On July 21st, we opened a runoff poll of the Zcash Community Advisory Panel (ZCAP), to determine which of two Dev Fund proposals should be implemented when the current Dev Fund ends in November. The poll closed this morning, and the results are as follows:
- Hybrid Deferred Dev Fund: Transitioning to a Non-Direct Funding Model – 91 votes (67%)
- Lockbox For Decentralized Grants Allocation (20% option) – 40 votes (30%)
Four voters (3%) abstained by choosing neither option, and 135 votes were cast in total.
We can therefore conclude that the Hybrid Deferred Dev Fund option enjoys majority support across the Zcash community. This conclusion is reinforced by the results of alternative polls of the ZecHub DAO, Zcash Brazil community, and the Zcash Spanish-speaking community.
This result bodes well for the future of Zcash. It ensures that the Zcash Community Grants program will continue to receive funding over the coming year, supporting its ongoing mission to fund independent teams entering the Zcash ecosystem, and ensuring that the Zcash ecosystem can continue to become more decentralized.
This result is also an important step in the geographic decentralization of the Zcash ecosystem, as it lays the path for the Zcash Community Grants program to migrate from the Zcash Foundation (based on the United States) to the Financial Privacy Foundation (based in the Cayman Islands).
We’d like to thank everyone who participated in this process, including those who drafted proposals; the many community members who took part in the discussions and debate on the Zcash community forum, on other social media, and in community calls; those who conducted alternative community polls; and everyone who voted in those polls.
Onward!
